March 23, 2015

It's so lovely to be able to email you all each week. I'm grateful for technology, know that it does for us #the best.

This week has been very exciting for the district. We had several meetings that lasted most of the day. We had one of the 70s, Elder Kopischke, come and speak to us. It was great. I'm going to get straight into it. There is a wonderful member of the ward, a less active named Robert. We were on teams one night and visited Robert. I was with Brother Basileus. He’s a very nice man who also speaks Spanish. We went to the house and met with Robert and his mother. While meeting, I shared a quick lesson about getting over habits and addictions. After a little bit, the mother asked a question in Spanish. I had no idea what she had said. Then Brother Basileus responded quickly in Spanish. I was waiting for the spirit to hit me, thinking that I could feel it, even though they're not speaking the same language that I know. Then once Brother Pursue stopped speaking, Robert, the son, lost it and started to say mean things about his mother. I was thinking, “Where was the spirit?” I had missed the great part, so then Brother Basileus continued to calm them down. What the mother had asked was how should a son act? That really opened up the floor for some crazy things to happen, but we left on a good note with the prayer so that's good.

We had a wonderful meeting on Thursday with our Mission President. We talked a lot about being quick to observe and asking inspired questions from Heaven. It was amazing and I learned a lot.

Elder Kopischke came on Friday. The day after he wanted to talk about having a bigger vision. He threw down for about four hours and talked about not being numbers driven and being more helpful to those that we teach. It was great and we all really felt the spirit.

On Thursday, after the meeting, we are able to go finding. We saw a lady raking her leaves. We walked up and asked if she could use some help. She loved that we are offering and she let us help. So we raked leaves for the next hour or so and talked about the gospel. It really got her into tears and wanted her to come back to church. What had just happened was amazing she then told us about how she just has recently gotten a new job but now she can start going to church again. She told us that how she hasn't been for a year plus. We talked about church, of been baptized and we started to talk more doctrinally and she felt the spirit a lot. We were able to set about a go date for her. So excited for Sharon... she's a great lady! After meeting Sharon, we continued to look for other ways to find. We met a lady named Larada. We helped to chop wood for an hour or so. Hopefully she can have us back for her dinner soon #missionary life.

So to top the week off, we were able to see Robert at church on Sunday. He wanted to come so badly, he started calling us at 4 AM until we were able to call him back at 6:30. That is when we're supposed to link up, pick them up and bring them to church. On the way, he talked about how he went to mass earlier at the Catholic Church. He was excited take the Sacrament - ours, we put in a basket. He went outside after receiving the Sacrament. We wanted to go sit outside at the end of the sacrament service, went outside to find him and he was he was looking at a scratch thingies where you buy them and you scratch them off and you try to win money. Anyways that was hilarious but we're just glad he was able to make it to church. He knows gambling is a problem. I will continue to ask him to repent I'm so grateful for all of you and all you do for me.

Thank you for the letters and packages and the wonderful things that you sent me this week. Sorry for the spelling, I'm sure it's awful but I am who I am and am working on it so give me a brake #repentanceisreal

Don't have pictures sorry next week I'll do better! Love you all so very much. Love, Elder Nelson

Hello my loved ones! I miss y'all so much! #thestruggle

This week has been pretty amazing!  We met a lot of good people.  The first person I'm gonna talk about is a very nice kid named Kobi.  While Elder Hughes and I were walking around a neighborhood, we saw him playing with a basketball by himself.  We walked up and he thought we were cops at first and then we started to play some ball
with him and I was balling it up #nodoubt! We started to bring up the Restoration and when we said that God has called another Prophet, he said,"but the bible tells us to look out for false prophets."  We then knew he was listening and we laid it all out for him and he loved it!  He even asked for the address to our church and then he committed to baptism on the 11th of next month!  We are pumped!

So on another sunny day (aka mostly rainy days here) we got done with a lesson and we walked out side and there was a girl with her kid.  We talked to her and started to share the Restoration and while sharing this message the heathen of a child was running away while trying to share this message.  We were chasing the kid around and he
started to knock on a door... it was his mothers door. I guess the girl we were talking to was her aunt so after her aunt says, "can you watch your kid? I'm talking to the Mormons.  Then the sister started to freak out and said "Don't talk to them!  They're crazy and stuff."  Then, she saw us and started to come outside and she said "we're okay.  We don't want to listen."  Then I said "what's your problem with the Mormons" and started to ask her questions to help her understand that we're not crazy people. We ended up finding out that her father passed away due to suicide and we were able to share some of the Plan of Salvation and she started to cry and said no one has ever answered that question like that! Very spiritual! She then invited us in and offered coffee and snacks we passed on the snacks and coffee.  We shared the Restoration with them both and they committed to baptism on the 11th of next month!  We're very excited for them!

The mission is picking up right now!  It's great!  We have a Seventy coming to speak with us on Thursday about the iPad and Facebook!  It's exciting!

The weather is starting to warm up.  It's taking forever it rains so much.  It's hard not to be depressed sometimes but the Atonement helps with that as well!

For all those in Arizona, my bishops daughter served in Mesa like a year ago.  Her name is Sister Gustafson.  Very nice!  The bishop's family is the best!

Some fun facts of my life:
We drive a Chevy curz.
I drink water from the sink and don't think it's good for me but life continues.
We have a cat that my companion likes to feed and so each morning it comes to our study room and sits outside of the window till we feed it (bad idea)
My President came up with the saying "Exact Obedience Brings Success!"
We play this game where you call out shipping trucks while we drive to waste time.  If you see a DHL you win!

Anyways, I love you all so much and am grateful for all the letters or packages y'all send me!  Please continue to. I love candy or anything to do with food.  Thanks so much!!

Here's some photos

PS - Totally forgot about the best day yesterday!  Before church we were given permission to go to a less active members house and go to his bedroom and wake him up.  It was super funny and hilarious! I love you

Stay Golden!

Hello my people!

Well I had fun this last week! It was bike week so that's a pretty good start to the week!  I got sick on Monday and was pretty ready to roll over dead, but pushed through so that's when we started to use the bus system!   That was fun!  We got to teach on them and have fun with it hahah!

So this week we had two different family history events and and it was alright.  We had a couple of members show up so it was great! But kinda awkward cause only a few and the family history representatives were a little sad cause of the no show but repentance is real and we'll be able to make the next one a lot of better

I had an exchange with Elder Christian this week.  While we were on exchanges we were walking  around this neighbor after a missed appointment and we saw this lady and her son.  We walked up and the lady started to yell
at us telling us to get lost and her son said he wanted to talk to us.  We talked with him and he was asking us if we have multiple wives and if we're Christian and all sorts of good questions.  Then, the mother came
back outside and started to ask questions and my companion went up to her and started to talk with her and help her understand what we do.  While he was teaching her I was setting a baptismal date with the son and then I look back up and the lady was crying and hugging him.  They then wanted us to come inside and she opened up!  That was a great lesson and very exciting!

So we met this family, Carmina and her father.  We went over to their house and her father was excommunicated when he was 17 years old and he has always taught his kids the churches doctrine.  Carmina has been reading in the Book of Mormon and she is in Jacob 5 and loving it!  So far her dad seems like he wants to baptized again, but we set a date with her.  Not sure about him yet.  She is great and we're very excited to see her progress!

We have this family in the ward that loves doing missionary work and he calls us the other night and says "I have tookie coming over I need y'all to show up randomly and talk about the gospel." Turns out this guy had a dream just like Lehi's!! It was a great meeting and hopefully we'll see him again soon!

Zone meeting was on Friday and our monthly fundamental is the Doctrine of Christ so we had a great meeting!

I'm loving this area!  There's great people here and this last year this ward had one of the highest baptizing with 26!  All the recent converts are great and ready to teach! I love it!!

I love you all so very much and am grateful for all the letters and love!!  Thanks again for the support and packages!  Make sure you send a lot more to me and my brother John aka elder Nelson in France!  He wants
some! I love you all love love love!

My Week

And a big one.  There are like 12 people in it! It's great!
So this area is pretty nice. I have a cook out right down the road from me so I'll be putting some weight on for sure (fyi cook out is the best). The members are great.  There's a lot of less actives so, as missionaries, we're going to be hunting for a little while!

On Wed we were at this recent convert's house and then we heard a car stuck outside.  So we finished quick and got out side.  It was snowing and pretty cold.  The man had clearly been drinking and was trying to leave the house to get back to his "baby mamas" -no joke. He just tried to drive right through the yard and turns out there's a huge dip in it.  He was pretty funny about it so we gave it some pushes but nothing.  So we thought let's get the car and tie some rope to the bike rack and drag this dude out, but the rope kept breaking.  Any ways, it's now 9:30 and snowing harder.  We told the dude we had to go): no fun ending sorry....

So there is an old time wrestler in our ward.  His fighting name is Barbarian.  He's a huge Poly from Tonga.  He's super old and does camps now but his family is so nice.  His wife always cooks us food and makes sure we're fed so don't worry!

There was a mission conference this last week and we had Elder Schweitzer, a Seventy, come and give us a training on how to use the ipad.  So basically they gave us ipads and let us see what we could do.  Then they figured out better ways so now they have a program that's going to help us so were not going to be using Facebook for the next couple months!  It was a great meeting and was 4 and a half hours long and we have a zone meeting on Friday to figure out more details so were all pumped!  After we try this out, because we're one of the many test missions, their going to make a lot of missions ipad missions!

So after church, we got a member to come with us to see Perry.  He's super nice and we started talking and got into the priesthood and we got to the great apostasy and he lost it!   Where's the priesthood and asking some great question's.  So we told him about JS and set a baptismal date.
I know there are so many people so ready to hear the gospel.  We just need to always make ourselves tools so people don't have to miss out on the blessings we receive!

I love missionary work!

I'm grateful for all those who wrote me and sorry for last week. I was tired and didn't write much.  I'll try to keep it up!
Love you all
By the way, shot out to mom and Isaac on the bdays. I love you both!

9100 Fishers Pond Drive, Apt. E1
Charlotte, North Carolina 28277

So this new place is pretty nice.  There are a lot of rich peeps and its really big!  There are three sets of missionaries here... Another set of elders and some sisters.  Huge ward!

Thanks for all those who sent me letters.  I'm grateful for them.  I'm sorry I'm writing on this computer and I'm awful at it so its gonna take me awhile #sorry.

It snowed a bit and everyone freaked out.  We went to the store to buy milk and bread.  Its nuts!!!  They think they are gonna die!

I'm with Elder Hughes from Tremonton.  He's been out for just over a year so were gonna try to kill it in this new area!

We're having a big change with how we use ipads and stuff on Thursday its gonna be sweet!

Tim got baptized and is having fun back in Summerfield.  Sad to say goodbye, but had to happen.  Hope he's doing well.  Going to try to get a hold of him soon.

I don't need much.  I'm pretty good right now living the dream!
Thanks so much!!  I love you all so much and hope ya'll have a good week!

My Life 3

This week has been pretty good!  We have been teaching Tim and finally got him into the waters of Baptism! Yay!!  It's so very exciting!!  This last Saturday he dove in and has been changed since!  Yesterday he received the Holy Ghost and is now a member of the the church!!

On Wednesday, he was interviewed and shed some tears and really felt the spirit! So happy for him!

Had an exchange with Elder Smith.  He is a newer missionary and just talks with everyone. I'm so bad at that so I'm gonna start working on that.  His name is Elder Gill from Las Vegas! Get this story... so he got called to the same mission as his girlfriend at the time and they had to change it because they both felt like they would mess up.  Super cute huh? I love missionary work!  We learned a lot from each other and met a guy named Jeff who said he was "floating" and I almost lost my pistons #oldslang... but really!  So he said that churches are getting to much into the politics and we talked about how we don't care about that and all the good stuff about our church. He said how you can pretty much do what ever you want to in our church as long as you're living all the commandments and following all the teachings of the church and have a calling and go to the temple on a regular basis and go home teaching and do family history!

Holy smokes it sounds like we're building Gods Kingdom here on earth!  And we are!  Anyways, I love the gospel am grateful for it and all the love you can feel from it!

Transfers are gonna be on Friday for some reason and I don't know if I'm leaving yet so we will see! Hopefully staying!

Thanks for all you do I love you all!
